Peanut, Mark’s rescued squirrel, was there in all of Mark’s everyday activities. Mark and Peanut liked to eat breakfast together in the mornings and enjoyed sharing their meals.
Peanut spent much of the day with Mark’s pet cat, Chloe, when the rescuer was away at work. The squirrel acted as if he were a cat. Peanut would then be waiting for Mark when he arrived home.
This was the most wonderful gift Mark could ever get. To keep the small squirrel healthy, the pet owner needed to keep him moving. So the athletic animal would jump to him whenever he snapped his fingers, and the owner would catch him.
Mark thought it was strange and understood that things like this didn’t happen very often. He’d come across Peanut while going down the street one day. Mark noticed a small ball of fuzz moving up his leg as he came closer to the mother squirrel, who had been hit by a car.
Mark returned him to his apartment and dialled as many rehabbers as he could. “Everyone he met used to say something similar,” he said.
As a result, Mark made the decision to look after him. Peanut was fed a goat milk formula. His major purpose was to restore his health and then free him.
The saviour noticed how far he could jump and grew stronger each day.
Peanut had recovered completely, so the nice guy let him go one lovely day. The squirrel bolted for the open door.
Mark’s release date was both a sad and a proud occasion for him. When he peeked out the window, though, he saw Peanut ready to come in. For as long as he kept Mark company, Mark would love him.
