Woman saves life of Dachshund who couldn’t walk or play due to obesity

The vets had notified Miri’s owner, an obese dog who could no longer exercise. If she didn’t lose weight, her life would be on the line. A few months later, the Dachshund became unrecognizable.

Obesity carries multiple health risks for dogs. Miri was suffering from a serious overweight that was threatening her life. Her owner was able to react to save her, as Metro reports.

For Miri, a 7-year-old female Dachshund, the weight problems started when her former owner fell ill and could no longer walk her.

She was then adopted by her current owner, Jean Fitch. The 55-year-old literally saved his life by helping him lose weight.

When she arrived with her new mistress, Miri was so obese that she could no longer walk. “His hind legs couldn’t support the weight.

Her stomach and chest were touching the ground, ”says the fifty-something. She would run out of steam at the slightest physical exertion and therefore could not perform any activity, which kept her in a vicious cycle leading her straight towards disaster.

The vets had explained to Jean Fitch that it was now the animal’s health and existence that was at risk. Miri absolutely had to lose weight. His mistress took the issue head on and put in place a plan to help him reach his goal.

“My friends find it hard to believe it’s still Miri”

The dog was put on a diet along with an exercise program. In order not to upset his body, the portions of food were gradually reduced. 6 months later, the result is hardly believable. Miri now weighs 6.3 kg, a normal weight for a Dachshund.
She is totally transformed, and not just physically. “She was very nervous, but now she loves the attention and the hustle and bustle,” said Jean Fitch.

The metamorphosis is such that “some friends ask me what happened to my ‘other Dachshund’ and find it hard to believe it’s still Miri,” said the Briton.

Today, Miri walks, plays and jumps, especially on the sofa to rest on her mother’s knees and receive hugs.
