This is the kind of story that warms our hearts. On December 26, 2021, 2 Detroit police officers responded to a call of a female dog hanging out near an abandoned house.
When they came, Gabrielle Rogers and Hussein Kourani noticed that the animal was frightened. “She just didn’t want to leave the scene,” one of the officers said.
After filling her stomach with a few treats, they gradually had her trust. The canine quickly allowed them into the home, Newsweek reports. Inside, the partners saw a scene worse than expected.
“I remember saying, ‘Oh my God’, then I saw a puppy lying on an old mattress and I looked at him for a second thinking, ‘Is he alive?’ “, explained Gabrielle Rogers.
The tiny ball of fur, stuck in a spring, was fortunately saved. But during the maneuver, the rescuers unearthed another small dog in the padding of the mattress. He too made it out safe and sound.
Following this rescue operation, the mom and her young were taken care of by the Aries Doberman Liberation Rescue, an association based in Grand Rapids. The canine, Minerva, is receiving heartworm treatment.
Once recovered, she will be offered for adoption. As for Harry Potter and Hermione, his puppies, they also receive care, in particular for a hernia detected in the male.
The latter already have their future mapped out… Indeed, the agents who took them out of their life of misery have decided to adopt them as soon as they are ready.
