The longest 20 minutes of a dog’s life, stranded in a car that fell into a canal

A dog miraculously survived the overturning and submersion of the car he was in. An exit allowed by the presence of an air pocket and the rapid intervention of the firefighters.

A dog has returned home safe and sound after miraculously surviving a road accident.

The vehicle he was trapped in had fallen into a canal, People reported.

On Sunday, June 12 at 1 a.m., firefighters in Crawford, North Carolina, were busy at the edge of a canal in which a car had just plunged after going off the road. The vehicle was submerged, upside down and extremely damaged.

The driver had managed to extricate himself before the arrival of the firefighters, but his dog who accompanied him was nowhere to be found.

However, the firefighters could hear his moans and redoubled their efforts to get him out of there as quickly as possible. They received help from a local towing company, one of whose engines managed to pull the wrecked car out of the water.

The dog had little chance of surviving such an accident, but he did.

Once the latter was on solid ground and returned to the place, the rescuers were able to locate and free the animal. It was in a small space under the floor that formed an air pocket.

This is what allowed him to hold these 20 minutes separating the accident and his rescue.
