Millions of dogs find up on the streets for various reasons, despite the fact that they are nothing but loyal and kind creatures that seek nothing in exchange for the kindness and compassion they provide (all groundless if you ask me). Smokey, however, is one of the animals left to fend for himself.
Smokey’s family lost their house due to a series of unfortunate occurrences, and the 5-year-old dog ended up at a shelter.
The confused puppy arrived to the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center on Valentine’s Day with dread in his heart and sorrow in his eyes.
He left nothing but an elephant puppet, which provided Smokey all the comfort he need.
Smokey had to be placed up for adoption with his toy grey elephant with pink ears, too, since those sudden changes in a dog’s life are exceedingly distressing, as the staff at the center knows.
They even put a notice on the pup’s kennel that claimed they had to be adopted together since they were inseparable.
Smokey’s situation was deteriorating, though, since no one wanted to adopt him. As a result, there was no choice but to be scheduled for euthanasia…
Thankfully, that never occurred because when two volunteers from the I Have A Dream Rescue Organization first spotted Smokey, they fell in love with him and chose to assist him in finding a foster home.
Smokey couldn’t contain his joy and excitement when he heard the news. He couldn’t stop grinning at the prospect of a new home for himself and his pet animal.
