Run over twice by a car, a senior dog comes close to euthanasia and “miraculously” survives this ordeal

In England, a man witnessed his dog’s accident with horror. The animal was run over twice by the same vehicle. After several weeks of intense care, he started to walk again!

When Robin Murray saw his old 4-legged companion get run over not once, but twice by the same car, he thought it was the end. The retired GP was walking down a quiet country lane outside Durham with his dog, Eddie.

A car suddenly rolled out of a bend and accidentally knocked over the quadruped. The upset driver rushed Eddie and his owner to a veterinary clinic.

Fractured ribs, severed tendon, collapsed lung, damaged abdominal wall: the canine suffered multiple serious injuries … Suffice to say that his life was hanging by a thread.
The old dog overcame the obstacles
The caregivers looked after their patient through the night. When Robin Murray asked them if euthanasia was necessary in order to shorten his suffering, they indicated “that it could not be ruled out”. However, they also claimed that there was real hope if Robin gave them the green light to start intense treatment.

“I think some dog owners could have had him euthanized, that’s completely understandable,” said the ex-doctor. “But I just wouldn’t have been able to live with myself, if we hadn’t given him every possible chance to recover. ”

The 12-year-old canine was then transferred to a specialist veterinary clinic in Cramlington, where he spent 2 weeks in intensive care. Although his injuries were treated, Eddie was unable to eat properly. Fortunately, the brave doggie made it out anyway.
