Heroic driver rescues exhausted baby moose and reunites it with mom

Thanks to the actions of a caring motorist in Alaska, a vulnerable moose calf was reunited with its mother. When he saw the sobbing young moose straining to cross the highway guardrail while driving home, he intervened and saved the day. The other drivers captured the lovely scene on camera!

Andrea Bock was travelling on a roadway near Clam Gulch in Alaska when traffic halted. She observed the scenario and even recorded it on her iPhone.

She quickly discovered it was because of a mother moose and her kid. When the two were attempting to cross the road, the little calf became trapped. The exhausted calf was unable to cross the highway railing and was separated from its mother.

“The calf would go close to the guardrail’s edge, but the mother would always pull him back to the middle, further away from the edge,” the woman told THE DODO. “I believe the mother kept bringing him back since it was the stretch where there were no automobiles,” says the narrator.

It had been about half an hour since the poor animal had been battling to get through, and things were not looking up until one of the drivers decided to take matters into his own hands!

Joe Tate and his buddies were returning from a fishing trip, and at first they didn’t know what was causing the traffic bottleneck, but they soon discovered it.

It was then that they decided to provide a hand, but they all understood they had to go with caution, as a distraught moose, like the mother moose, could be highly deadly, especially if someone approached her little one.
