Penny literally changed Olivia Lachenaueur’s life. The 2-year-old female Golden Retriever has become an assistance dog for this woman with post-traumatic stress disorder, reports an article in Le Dodo published on April 14, 2022.
Gentle, soothing and caring, the animal remains the ideal companion for Olivia. “She is trained for day and night interventions,” she told our colleagues across the Atlantic.
When she became pregnant, the canine was even more vigilant. It must be said that her mission is very close to her heart and that her “mom” represents the world for her.
One day, the usually calm and relaxed dog seemed excited, as if trying to convey a message to her protege.
Olivia assumed that her furry friend was reacting to the stress that was overwhelming her due to an exam scheduled at that time.
“I’m in nursing school and I had a final checkup that day,” Olivia explained, “she kept rubbing her nose on my stomach instead of by my side. ”
During this examination, labor began for the expectant mother.
“At question 63, I started having the worst contractions ever, she recalls, I finished my check-up, my parents came and that night my beautiful baby boy was born! Penny knew before I did that something was wrong. »
