The university authorities decided to honor the dog with a diploma: it caught everyone’s attention

The golden dog Griffin caught everyone’s attention when came with its owner to a university graduation party in New York State.

Brittany Hawley, 25, is in a wheelchair because of a chronic illness. Griffin has been a loyal friend and helper for four years now. The dog can fetch the things she needs, turn on the lights and open the doors. The dog has helped Brittany out of her misery.

When Brittany went to study in Potsdam, New York State, she took Griffin with her. It always joined the girl during her studies at university.

After graduating, Brittany got a Master’s degree in occupational therapy. The university authorities decided to honor Griffin with a diploma as well – for its “incredible dedication and creating a supportive environment for the student’s success”. The result was a hoarse barking of a dog in academic garb: a gown and a cap.

Brittany wrote on her social account: “Two and a half years ago Griffin and I came to Potsdam, New York, to enter university. When we arrived at the new area, we learned how to take care of each other in the new environment.

Today this exciting experience has come to an end. My dream came true and I got my Master’s in Occupational Therapy!

I can’t wait to go on another travel with Griffin. We have been inseparable for the last two and a half years. Now new chances await us!”
