Dog Who Was Deformed By Cruel Wire Muzzle Now Has a Home

A two-year-old Pointer mix was discovered on the streets of Tijuana by a rescuer earlier this year, according to dogfull.com.

The poor dog, who has since been given the name Dwayne, was desperately begging for food while locals pelted him with searing hot water and stones, disgusted by his deformities.

The dog’s original caretaker was then identified, who had wrapped his mouth with a  cruel wire-muzzle and kicked him with sticks on a regular basis.

The individual was serving time in prison for an unrelated offence. Dwayne was left on the streets to fend for himself. To make matters worse, he was assaulted by two enormous dogs, who left him with terrible head injuries and nearly severed his ears.

The dog made it to the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe, California, thanks to the rescuer.

The Helen Woodward Animal Center believes that “animals help humans and people help animals through trust, unconditional love, and respect establishes a legacy of compassion.”

Despite the awful treatment he had received, the dog only had love to give to everyone he met. He would softly rub his body against everyone who came close, lowering his head and offering a lick.

Dwayne deserved a better life, and the Helen Woodward Center was determined to give him one.

Over the course of months, surgeons fixed his horribly deformed front limb and elbow, as well as reconstructing his face to repair serious mutilation.

Vet-Stem Biopharma, a renowned stem cell therapy facility, has even stepped in to give cutting-edge treatment to aid Dwayne’s recovery.

The device takes tissue from an injured animal and uses an IV to transfer the animal’s own healing stems back to the injury site and throughout the body.

The operation is normally $2,500, but Dr. Schaffer of Vet-Stem Biopharma was so moved by Dwayne’s story that he offered it for free.

The Helen Woodward Center, determined to use every available form of modern medicine to aid in his recovery, also gave laser therapy for the areas affected by his facial reconstruction procedures.

Laser treatments have been demonstrated to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and relieve discomfort. Throughout it all, the beautiful puppy was a trooper.
