You can change your life at any age։ a 94-year-old courageous grandfather proves it

The former railway engineer claimed that he fell in love with the gym when he started visiting it to keep fit after retirement.

“The body should move, in my opinion. I am sure that I move even when I sleep. He works like a machine. It starts to break down if you leave it sitting.”

Sanna began working for British Rail in 1954 after moving to the UK. In the early 1990s, when Mario finally put down his tools, he understood he needed a way to train and joined his first gym.

“I had to earn a lot of money at that time because I was getting married, so I worked every Sunday, he explains. It has always been very physical work.”

He described his typical practice saying, “I always think I need to lengthen my legs because they support the rest of my body, and that’s something I’m going to address first. After that, I’ll work on the rest of the body.

“I am sure gym will make me physically better than I am now.”

Weightlifting, not only can increase your heart rate like an exercise bike but also helps maintain bone density and prevent muscle atrophy. It is becoming increasingly common among older adults in America as health moves away from cardiovascular activities such as brisk walking or swimming.

Mario has described his gym friends as his “family” and he just celebrated his 94th birthday with some of them. He said “It’s like a family. They threw a party here for my birthday.”

Mario claimed that he is the oldest member of his gym, but advised other seniors to hurry up if they wanted to stay fit. “I think I’m the oldest. Everyone should do it, especially if they’re alone, to get out of the house and do something.”
