This couple’s lovely cover has gone viral, amassing around 11 million views in just a few weeks

Did you know that ‘The Sound of Silence,’ one of the songs that have been covered the most often throughout history, was at first a ‘commercial failure’?

When the song failed to connect with audiences, Simon and Garfunkel disbanded momentarily after its 1964 release.

Inherently, that was later changed. When the song gained popularity in 1965, producer Tom Wilson was motivated to rework it with electric instruments and drums.

The remix wasn’t made public until after the duo learned about it. Therefore, the song is still famous online all these years after.

This tune has been covered numerous times, each time with a different artist adding their own flair.

Emma, an Australian indie pop singer-songwriter from Cairns, offers a novel interpretation of the song because male singers were traditionally more likely to perform it, mostly.

The lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist for the Melbourne band Husky are Gawenda.

He’s not just singing backup for Emma, but also playing guitar on this song. And, as luck would have it, their blending is superb.

Their voices blend together attractively. Here, the song is done just how it was meant to be.

They performed this song in a fantastic duet. They revived a 1960s classic while respecting the original intent of the song’s composition.

It’s a lovely way for one artist duo to pay tribute to another.
