Cops Lend A Helping Flipper To Unlikely Culprit Found Wandering In Traffic

Is it possible that a seal is trapped in traffic? That’s absolutely not something you see every day!

Harbor seals are common on Long Island’s rocks and beaches, but drivers in Southampton, New York, were not expecting to encounter one in the middle of the road!

The newborn seal must have been pursuing fish up the Peconic River when it strayed into a park to rest, according to authorities.

The seal made its way from the park to a nearby hotel before ending up in the midst of a traffic circle.

The unfortunate young fella was apprehended by local cops and taken to a Riverhead rehabilitation clinic.

“The animal is in good shape,” said Maxine Montello, director of the rescue programme. We believe he got a little too far away from the beach.

We’re hoping to bring him back to the beach as soon as possible.”

Spring is apparently “seal season,” so beachgoers may anticipate to share the sand with their seal pals!

Who knew Long Island had so many runaway seals? A road trip is in order!
