Cat found with burns in mouth on his road to full recovery after 3 months of treatment

Volunteers and vets were in shock as they took care of a female cat with chemical burns. Thanks to their hard work, she is now fully healed and is waiting to start her new life.

In August 2021, a cat was rescued in North Shields, northeast England, and taken to the RSPCA’s Felledge Shelter.

The unfortunate woman was in very bad shape; her mouth, tongue and throat were burnt from a black sticky substance, Chronicle Live reported.

It was not clear what product it was exactly. Probably tar or burglar paint, a coating applied to the walls to prevent intruders from climbing them.

The cat, who was named Grace, was no doubt licking herself in an attempt to remove the substance from her hair, bringing it into her oral cavity where it caused serious lesions.

“Despite the treatments and the pain, she is the most loving and affectionate cat there is”

The RSPCA team worked very hard for 3 months to treat her. Grace had initially spent 4 days in the vet clinic and needed to be intubated for food.

8 days later, the tube was removed because she was able to eat again thanks to the treatments. He was also given daily baths to cleanse his coat and skin from the poison.
